What becomes of failed leaders?

I can remember an old boyfriend telling me he wanted to be with me because it made him a better person. I asked him what he meant about being a better person.

His response was he puts in extra effort to improve himself and feels successful when he does it. Have you thought about how your relationship with someone affects your actions and feelings?

The same expectations hold true about leadership. When you think about people you admire – what leadership qualities are exhibited? Take a few minutes to write down your list of great leader traits.

No matter what leadership quality you define – isn’t it true that a great leader achieves the goal successfully time after time? Without the wins, a leader loses traction and supporters. Without great leadership qualities, people look for someone else to follow.

And a failed great leader becomes another great person…looking for someone else to follow.
